Despite the heat, Graham wants to take 2+ walks a day. He says, "Go on walk, please!" and then he runs to his bike with great urgency.
Grahamy has learned how to jump -- and he loves to jump over the cracks in the sidewalk...
I couldn't quite catch him in air -- this was close.
A really BIG book!!!

GRAHAM IS TWO

Our boy is two! We had a lovely little birthday celebration for him, complete with water, rocks, buttons and his best friend Clara. Aunt Melissa came for the day and so did Nana and Papa, though Nana ended up in bed with a virus and two of his other good buddies stayed home sick. Last year, several buds ended up with the rotavirus before Graham's first birthday party, so we might just start a trend. Grahamy thoroughly enjoyed his party, despite a missed nap (too much pre-party excitement) and absent guests. Here are a few pictures from the afternoon. Thanks to all the family and friends for the phone calls, cards and e-mails. If we didn't talk to you today, we'll get in touch with you soon!
Clara and Grahamy throw buttons, rocks and sticks into the swimming pool...
Little lovebirds already!
Graham's "kitty-cat" cake... 3/4 frosting and it looked more like a rat than a cat.

Story time!

IN A FLASH...

Graham loves to look at Baby Grahamy pictures these days and talk about his birth. He sits on my lap and we talk about when he was in Mommy's belly with the warm water. The difference between Baby Grahamy in the pictures and Big Boy Grahamy in the mirror is quite obvious to him. There are times when I miss that baby, but I am truly enjoying this miraculous transformation. Graham is a beautiful child, timid at times, but adventurous too. He is outdoorsy and extraordinarily creative, preferring his rocks, buttons, water, wooden blocks and books to conventional toys. He loves to take walks, dance, sing, make animal noises and silly faces. He is eager to please, thoughtful and polite. Most of all, he is happy. For that, I am most grateful.

Graham is almost two!!!

Here's a quick post-lunch video of Grahamy spelling his name. He is fascinated with letters and numbers these days. Our days of popping into the grocery store are long gone. He sees big letters and little letters everywhere! We spell corn, milk and even avocado... He is even more interested in the words and page numbers in his books than the pictures right now. And from morning 'til night, the talking NEVER stops!

Pictures from this past week...

This is Graham's SECOND dinner! Dad came home to some spaghetti (his favorite meal) and Grahamy wanted some too!
He's a pasta-boy, just like his daddy!

Weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Mellon

Grandma and Grandpa spent Mother's Day weekend with us. Graham's quite the chatterbox these days and talks nonstop from morning 'till night. He demonstrated a lot of his skills for Grandma and Grandpa, including his knowledge of all the letters in the alphabet (big and little letters) and numbers from 1-10. We had lots of fun playing with rocks, blocks, water and balls throughout the days and then we all enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day brunch at Aunt Melissa's house. We celebrate all the moms out there! Here are a bunch of pictures from our weekend. Aunt Melissa set up a bowl of water and some stones for Grahamy...

It doesn't take much to keep this kid entertained...

Here's a partial family photo on Mother's Day morning. We missed you Lindsey!
It's quite difficult to capture Graham for a sitting photo these days!

Graham and Grandpa wrestling around in the morning...

This is some SERIOUS bed-head! Graham has his daddy's hair -- thick, with a tendency to curl at the ends. I have been trimming it myself for a few months, but now that he needs the top layered a bit, I am going to turn to a professional.

Busy Sunday

Scott has been lucky enough to have tickets for the Wachovia Championship three years in a row. It's only a short walk from our house to Quail Hollow Club, so Scott and his buddy (also known as "Uncle Charlie") walked down and spent the day on the green.

Graham and I timed our evening walk just right! We met the boys on their way back from the golf course...
Grahamy loves taking walks!!!

Graham has adopted this neighborhood cat. He loves cats, though we'll never be able to have one since Scott is quite allergic. We walk past this kitty's house daily and look for it. Graham calls for it, meows for it and peers up and down the driveway. He gets terribly disappointed if we can't find it.
Grahamy is so gentle with the kitty cat and he's careful not to step on it.

This picture was taken at Jak's 2nd birthday party. Graham gravitated to the sand/water table immediately... until he found a neglected fountain in the backyard and wanted to throw rocks in it. He was more interested in the fountain than in the REAL train Jak's parents rented for the kids to ride. We have a geologist or an oceanographer in our future... The following pictures are from the party as well...
